Albertsons Doublers: BAD News

Sorry to be so down, but I'm really bummed about an article I just read about Albertsons doublers on FabulesslyFrugal.com. They received an email from Albertsons that stated they are majorly changing the way doublers will work. Plus, the worst part for me, they are going to take doublers away completely from Wyoming and Montana! Here's a copy of the email:

“As I’m sure you’ve seen on our Facebook page, we’re currently reevaluating the way we share coupons with our shoppers. We’re really excited that so many shoppers are enthusiastic about our Twice the Value coupons at certain Albertsons IMW locations, and we’ve seen a significant increase in shoppers who are using them.

Unfortunately, we’ve seen many people taking advantage of this special offer, so we’ve decided to stop providing extra inserts at our store locations. As of July 17th, the only way to have access to the promotional inserts that include our Twice the Value coupons will be to purchase a Sunday newspaper. I want to make it clear that we’re still offering and honoring our Twice the Value coupons, but to limit the number of shoppers who are using more than three in any given shopping trip we will not have extra coupons at our store locations.

Our stores in Montana and Wyoming have a historically low redemption rate of our special Twice the Value coupons, so in these specific markets we’ve decided discontinue offering our special savings inserts in Sunday newspapers as well. Since shoppers in these stores don’t appear to be finding value in these coupons, we’ve decided to use this as an opportunity to try new ways to share savings and value with our customers.

Since you’re so familiar with our stores—and clearly your readers are as well—I’d like to take this opportunity to ask you what you think would make couponing with Albertsons a better experience. We’re already investing a lot of resources into our email savings program by offering exclusive offers, but what other ways would you like to save at Albertsons? Are you finding a lot of savings in our holiday coupon booklets? Do you think that our shoppers would like to receive special offers on Facebook? Obviously we can’t honor everyone’s requests, but I’d love to hear from you and your readers as to how you want to see couponing at Albertsons evolve.

Thank you again for all the support you give to us, and I really hope that we can continue to work together to deliver our shoppers the best possible savings. I look forward to hearing your thoughts!”

-Albertsons IMW

Just head over here, click the yellow "Enter Your Code" button, and then enter CLOUDMP3 to instantly score a $2 mp3 credit on Amazon good through June 30! (By the way, can you believe that June 30 is Thursday already? Good grief, where did June go?!) You'll have to sign in to your Amazon account also for the credit to be applied (I was already signed in when I did it).

Facebook: $2/1 DiGiorno Pizza & Sides Coupon

You can go here, "Like" DiGiorno on Facebook, then click the link to print off a $2/1 Pizza & Sides coupon! I know that these are priced $6 this week locally at Warehouse Market, so combined with the coupon they would only be $4. Safeway has an in-ad coupon for DiGiorno or California Pizza Kitchen for $4.49, but I'm guessing the Pizza & Sides variety is not included. Don't forget to hit your browser's "Back" button to print two copies!

Wow! I just LOVE saving $ on stuff I have to buy anyway (isn't that kind of the point?)! You can go here to take advantage of this great deal! Vitacost also has many organic products as well as supplements. Vitacost offers FREE shipping on orders $49 or above.

Groupon: $10 for $20 at Old Navy!

Wow! This is a GREAT deal at Groupon today! You can go here (my personal referral link) to get a certificate for $20 at Old Navy for only $10! It sounds like you can't combine it with other coupons, but you can use it on sale and promotional merchandise. $10 of the $20 expires on 7/30/11, but the other $10 doesn't ever expire. What a great way to save an extra 50% at Old Navy!

Whoopsie (as Molly's friend Riley would say), I kinda forgot to post ANYTHING last week. Pregnancy brain again, I guess. :) I found this article by Gloria Lemay via my friend Jill's blog this morning and thought it was pretty timely and pretty right on. There are a couple points I'm not too sure about (#8: I wouldn't care about the healthy food part, and #9: pretty sure Nate wouldn't want to go to a hockey game), but on the whole it is right on about what a new mom needs.

Albertsons Double Coupons

Here's my big haul from Albertsons this morning! I scored 16 boxes of pasta for FREE! These are the coupons I used:

$1.00/2 – American Beauty Quick Cook Pasta – (americanbeauty.com)
$1.00/2 – Ronzoni Garden Delight – (itpaystoeatpasta.com)
$1.00/2 – Ronzoni Healthy Harvest Pasta – (itpaystoeatpasta.com)
$1.00/2 – Ronzoni Smart Taste Pasta – (itpaystoeatpasta.com)

Each box was on sale for $1, then when I doubled each $1/2 coupon that made them completely FREE! Also, I found some $1/1 Classico pasta sauce peelie coupons on the Healthy Harvest variety, and using that coupon would make a jar of sauce only $0.50.

Another freebie my store was sold out of this morning was the Emerald Breakfast on the Go. It's priced at $1.99, then you can use the $1/1 Emerald Breakfast on the Go coupon from RP 5/1 or these printable coupons:

$1.00/1 – Emerald Breakfast on the Go Product, 7.5oz or Larger – (redplum.com)
$1.00/1 – Emerald Breakfast on the Go Product, 7.5oz or Larger – (bricks.coupons.com)

After using the coupon with a doubler, you should get a FREE box! One of the assistant managers at my store said he ordered a bunch of them, so I'm going to go back tomorrow to try to get some.

A link to print the coupon will be emailed to you. My email showed up in the Spam folder, so check carefully. It's a bricks.coupons.com, so I was able to print 2 copies.

Albertson's This Week

So, it sounds like there will be doublers in Sunday's (or Saturday's Sheridan Press) paper! I am going to stop by Albertson's today to pick up eggs ($0.99/dozen), boneless pork chops (buy one pack get one free), and Rold Gold pretzels or Lay's Kettle Cooked Chips ($1.99 each then use the $2/2 coupon from the paper). I will definitely be making another trip, though, come Monday morning. A deal that I'm excited about is the Pepperidge Farm Goldfish crackers on sale for $1 each. You can print a $0.75/2 coupon which (combined with a doubler) will make each bag just $0.25! They are part of the "Buy 10 Items Save $5" promo, so you'll have to buy 10 participating items to get the $1 each price.

Safeway: $1 off $5 Produce Purchase!

Here's a great Facebook coupon for us (or is it we?) Safeway shoppers! Go here, "Like" Safeway on Facebook, then click to print a coupon for $1 off a $5 produce purchase at Safeway. Don't forget to hit your "Back" button to print it twice. It expires on June 15, so we'll have plenty of time to make use of it. Walgreens Shopping Trip

We also went to Walgreens and did very well, too! Most of what I ended up paying was sales tax.

Head & Shoulders shampoo and conditioner = 2 for $8 - I used the Buy One H&S Shampoo get one H&S conditioner Free coupon from the 4/17 RP and the $2/1 H&S shampoo coupon from the P&G booklet (no longer available). I paid $2 and then got a $2RR back making them FREE!

Tylenol Precise pain-relief cream = $7.99 - I bought two, used two $5/1 Tylenol Precise coupons and a $3/1 Tylenol Precise coupon from the Walgreens May Coupon Booklet. Final Price FREE!

Gillette Fusion ProGlide razor = $9.99 - I used the $5/1 coupon from the P&G booklet and paid $4.99. I then got a $5RR back which made the razor FREE!

Scotch Transparent tape = $0.39 with in-ad coupon. This was my filler item so I could use the $2RR from my first transaction toward the more expensive razor in the second transaction.

Basically everything was FREE except for the tape!

Albertsons Shopping Trip

Well, I had a WONDERFUL time with my parents while they were here for a week, but now that they have started the trip home, it's time to get back into the swing of things. The girls and I made a trip to Albertsons and Walgreens this morning and did very well. Here's how Albertsons turned out.

Tony's Pizza = $1.00 each - I bought 4, used two $1/2 Tony's coupons and two doublers = Final Price: FREE!

Better Oats 5-ct. instant oatmeal = $1.25 - I bought 2, used two $1/1 any Better Oats coupons and two doublers = Final Price: $1.50 moneymaker! (There are 3 boxes shown because I originally got the chocolate [doesn't it look totally scrumptious?!?!] and one apple, but the chocolate rang up wrong, so I got the chocolate for FREE and used the coupons on two apple varieties.)

Tostitos Bite-Size Rounds (the best chips EVER!) = $2.50 - I used the $1/1 Tostitos chips or dip coupon from the 5/1 Moments to Share insert and one doubler = Final Price $0.50!

Ground beef 93% lean = $4.03 for 0.94 lbs. - The package had a $2 off sticker making it a little more than $2/lb.

Propel flavored water 6 pack = $2.50 - I used the $1/1 Propel 6-pack coupon from the 5/1 Moments to Share insert and one doubler = Final Price $0.50!

"Dirty" Potato Chips = $1.00 - These were samples right by the register, and they caught me. :)

In the two transactions I did to purchase all of the above I spent ONLY $2.53 total!

Blessings

My dear college friend Pam posted this beautiful song and video on her blog, and I wanted to share it, too. I cry every time I listen to it. It is a lovely song about trials and trusting God. I hope you "enjoy" it as much as I have.

Safeway: FREE Kids Reach Toothbrushes!

Safeway has kids Reach toothbrushes on sale for $1.99 this week (I haven't yet verified this price locally; I'm going this morning to check it out). There's also a Catalina:

Buy Reach Toothbrushes from 3/6 – 3/29:
Buy 2, get $1 Catalina
Buy 3, get $2 Catalina
Buy 4+, get $4 Catalina

Plus, you can use coupons from here and here. If you buy 4 toothbrushes and use 4 coupons, you'll pay $3.96 and get back a $4 Catalina! I'm excited to try this deal.

One thing to note is that last time I was in Safeway my checker said they are not supposed to take any coupons that don't scan anymore. So no more punching in the number on the coupon. The coupons from the newspaper seem to scan a lot easier than printables, so just keep that in mind.

Updated Walmart Coupon Policy!

Yay! Walmart has updated their coupon policy, and, for me at least, all the changes are positive. You can go here to view and print the new policy to keep in your coupon binder or purse. The best change is this one:

"Coupons may exceed the price of the item. Change may be given or applied toward the cost of the basket purchase."

Hooray for overage! My Walmart has always given me such a hard time with overage, so I'm definitely printing this new policy and shopping with confidence from now on.

My trip to Safeway was smokin' hot! I think I kind of overwhelmed the cashier with the amount of coupons I had, but she did great and didn't make a fuss. :) Here's what I bought:

5 boxes of Betty Crocker fruit snacks = 5 x $0.99 = $4.95 - $0.50/2 coupon - $0.50/2 coupon - $0.50 double - $0.50 double = $2.95. Then I received a $3 catalina making it a $0.05 moneymaker! (I did this transaction twice and brought home a total of 10 boxes of fruit snacks.)

3 boxes of Cinnamon Burst Cheerios and 1 box of Cinnamon Toast Crunch = 4 x $1.49 = $5.96 - $0.75/1 Cheerios - $0.75/1 Cheerios - $0.75/1 Cheerios - $0.55/1 Cinnamon Toast Crunch - $0.25 double - $0.25 double - $ 0.25 double - $0.45 double = $1.96. Each box cost $0.49!

4 boxes of Quaker Oat Squares = 4 x $1.49 = $5.96 - $1/1 Quaker - $1/1 Quaker - $1/1 Quaker - $1/1 Quaker (2 of these were printables that are no longer available and 2 were from the newspaper that my mom sent me) = $1.96. Once again, each box cost only $0.49!

5 DiGiorno frozen pizzas = 5 x $4.49 = $22.45 - $5 off $15 frozen food purchase from Safeway ad - $1/1 DiGiorno - $1/1 DiGiorno - $1/1 DiGiorno - $1/1 DiGiorno - $1/1 DiGiorno (these all came from the Safeway frozen foods coupon booklet) = $12.45. Each pizza cost $2.49!

18-ct Lucerne eggs = $1.99.

4 Coca-Cola 12-packs and 2 bags of Snack Artist chips (buy 2 Coke 12-packs get 2 more and 2 bags of chips FREE sale) = 2 x $5.99 = $11.98 - $5.99 from FREE Coke 12-pack coupon (purchased with points on MyCokeRewards.com) - $1/1 any Coke product coupon (also from MyCokeRewards.com) = $4.99. Each item cost ONLY $0.83!

Coupon Craziness!

I'm a printing fool this morning :), and here's what I'm printing and why:

$0.50/2 Betty Crocker Fruit Snacks and another link here - at Safeway this week, these are $0.99 each. Buy 5, use (2) $0.50/2 coupons, pay $2.95 and get a $3 catalina back! There was also another $0.50/2 coupon in the 2/13 GM.

$1/4 Old Orchard frozen juice concentrates and another link here - I'm saving these for doublers this weekend at Albertsons which should get me $0.50 grape juice!

$3/2 PediaCare Products - starting Sunday 3/6 at Walgreens there will be an in-ad coupon which, combined with this manufacturer's coupon will get me FREE PediaCare!

Safeway is also having a cereal sale (Cheerios, Cap'n Crunch, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Quaker Oatmeal Squares, Life, Golden Grahams) for $1.49 each wyb 4. There are lots of printable Cheerios, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, and Golden Grahams coupons available here and here which will double making the cereal just $0.49 per box!

$1/2 Oscar Mayer Deli Creations - with doublers at Albertsons will make them FREE!

Plus, don't forget when you print from coupons.com to go through swagbucks.com, point to the "Earn" box at the top of the screen and click on "Coupons." Printing this way will enable you to earn 10 Swagbucks for each coupon you use!

FREE Redbox Rental Code!

Apparently today (2/14) ONLY you can use code BEMINE at Redbox to score a FREE movie rental! Remember, in order to use it you need to touch the box in the lower left corner of the screen that says "Rent with Promo Code" and enter the code first before choosing your movie. Also, be sure to return the movie before 9 pm the next evening or you will be charged for a second night's rental. You can go here to browse the selection (pretty thin, in my opinion).

Happy (Frugal) Valentine's Day!

We never go all out for Valentine's Day. We never have. And that's okay with me. Our frugal selves would never allow it. This year (as with most years) we decided to make each other cards. I borrowed M's crayons and made a very homemade card for Nate. But this morning he said he loved it more than any storebought card. I also happened upon a little stuffed Snoopy that plays the Peanuts theme song while at Walgreens the other day (it was on clearance, of course) that I surprised him with this morning. We love keeping it simple and focusing on each other and not the externals. Maybe we can have a family candlelit dinner tonight and call it good.

$2 MP3 Credit at Amazon!

This one is a little different than the other promotions they've done. You can choose to send an album or song as a gift to someone else (I sent 2 songs to Nate) and at checkout use promo code VDAYMP3S which will take $2 off your total. I bought two individual songs in two separate orders, and I think it worked right. Each time it said my total was $0.99 and a promotion took off $0.99. You can go here to choose your song(s). I followed these instructions from Collin at Hip2Save to process my order:

1. You have to follow the directions on Amazon and give the MP3 as a gift.

2. Find the MP3 album or song you want to give. Click the “Give album or song as a gift” button (or the “Give song as a gift” button).

3. Follow the instructions to personalize your MP3 gift and click the “Proceed to Checkout” button. (If you do not currently have a credit card and billing address associated with your account, you will need to add them.)

4. On the checkout page, enter code VDAYMP3S in the box labeled “Have any gift cards, gift certificates, or promotional claim codes?” and click the “Apply” button. Your $2 credit will be added. If you receive an error, make sure you’ve entered the code correctly and that the promotion is still valid and has not expired.

5. After you’ve entered the code, click on the “Give song as a gift” button.

I got some hassle from the checker today and just called the store and spoke with the manager (Robert) who once again confirmed that they WILL double coupons that say "Do Not Double" on them. So if your checker tells you they won't do it, stand firm! :) I also asked him about the number of transactions we can do, and he said he was told to allow two transactions per day, but he stated to me that he personally didn't mind if a few more than that were done at the same time. But, their computers will only accept 3 doublers per transaction, so bear that in mind, too. Happy shopping!

Screamin' Buy With Me Deal!

UPDATE: Sold out :(
This has a lot of steps to it, but you'll end up with $30 of tea from California Tea House for FREE! BuyWithMe.com is offering a $10 credit to new and existing members.

So first, you'll want to go here and sign up for a new account (this is my personal referral link).

Then log out of your account.

Next, click here and log back in. This will give you the $10 credit. To be sure you were credited, click on "My Account" and then click on the grey "Credits + Referrals" tab. A $10 credit should show up in your account.

If you want to get the California Tea House deal (which also comes with FREE shipping), click here, choose Philadelphia as your city, then click on "More Deals". At the bottom of the list will be the California Tea House deal.

I just did this myself and was able to order the tea deal for FREE! I will get an email with the deal information tomorrow so I can use it right away (or I can wait, too, because it doesn't expire until 1/27/2012). California Tea House is rather spendy, so I won't be able to get a lot of tea with $30, but whatever I can get is great because it was FREE!
